Newly cut driveway base running back into a wooded property
Access that lasts

A drive you can get a concrete truck down in February.

A driveway is the first thing that has to work on a rural build. If a delivery truck cannot get back to the pad, nothing else on the schedule matters, and a drive that was scraped flat with no crown will be a set of ruts by the second wet month.

Driveway Construction in Springfield, GA

What this service actually gets you.

A driveway is the first thing that has to work on a rural build. If a delivery truck cannot get back to the pad, nothing else on the schedule matters, and a drive that was scraped flat with no crown will be a set of ruts by the second wet month.

We cut the lane, set the culverts, build the base and crown the surface so water sheets off the sides instead of running down the middle. Then we drive it, look at it, and fix the low spots before we leave.

Cut the lane the right width the first time

A drive that is wide enough for a pickup is not wide enough for a concrete truck, a lowboy or a fire engine. We cut for the vehicles that will actually use it, including the turnaround, and clear the canopy overhead so nothing scrapes a delivery box truck.

  • Width and turning radius set for delivery vehicles
  • Overhead canopy trimmed for clearance
  • Shoulders cut back so the lane drains to daylight

Drainage before gravel

Gravel spread over a lane with no fall or no pipe is money you will spend twice. Ditches, culverts and crown come first. Once the water has somewhere to go, the base stays put and the surface stops migrating into the woods every spring.

  • Ditch lines cut with continuous fall to an outlet
  • Culverts sized, bedded and backfilled properly
  • Crown built into the subgrade, not just the top layer

Base, surface, then drive it

We compact the base, bring the surface material to depth, and then run a loaded machine over it looking for soft spots. Anything that moves gets fixed while the equipment is still on site rather than becoming a callback in six weeks.

  • Base compacted before surface stone goes down
  • Surface material to the depth your quote specifies
  • Loaded proof roll and repairs before load out
What is included

Every driveways job includes this, no upsell required.

  • Route walked and staked with you before any cutting
  • Clearing and grubbing of the lane and shoulders
  • Ditching, culvert placement and outlet to daylight
  • Subgrade shaped with crown and compacted
  • Base and surface material placed to specified depth
  • Proof roll, low spot repair and final walkthrough
How pricing works

What moves the number up or down.

We do not publish a flat rate because no two properties in Effingham County are the same. Density, access, terrain and how much has to leave the site are what set the price. Here is roughly how jobs sort out.

Short residential driveOne to two days

Up to a couple hundred feet from the county road to a house or shop, including apron.

Rural access roadQuoted by length

Longer lanes through timber, priced by the running foot with materials broken out.

Repair and resurfaceHalf day to full day

Reshaping a rutted existing drive, restoring crown and topping up surface material.

Questions we get

Driveway Construction, answered honestly.

Anything we did not cover, call (912) 901-3000. You will reach someone who has run the machine, not a call center.

Crusher run and graded aggregate base are the workhorses around here because they lock up and hold a crown. Softer sandy mixes look fine when spread and disappear in a year, and we will tell you so before you pay for them.

Where a drive ties into a county or state road you usually need a driveway permit and a specified pipe size. We work to those requirements and can walk you through what the county needs from you.

One built with proper drainage and a real crown will go years with an occasional grade and a light top up. One built without them starts failing the first wet season, which is why we do not skip that part.

Usually yes. We reshape the subgrade, restore the crown, clear the ditches and top it back up. If the base was never there in the first place we will tell you honestly that a rebuild is the cheaper long term option.

Yes, clearing and grubbing the lane is part of the job, and we can mulch the shoulders back at the same time so the drive stays open to sunlight and dries faster.
